POSITION: Estimator – Commercial Concrete

LOCATION: Hawaii, Island of Oahu


  • Prepare proposal estimates for structural commercial concrete and heavy civil construction including, but not limited to: cast-in-place commercial concrete structures, bridges, multi-story buildings, and tilt-up construction.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Determine applicable project plans and specifications.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
  • Develop accurate estimated costs to complete the applicable scope of work.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
  • Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • Develop relationships with and obtain bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Support other department personnel as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience estimating in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of construction design, methods and finance.
  • Experience with Heavy Bid or similar estimating software.
  • Familiary with a variety of forming systems for vertical and horizontal elements.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in assuming responsibility and reaching deadlines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
