OBJECTIVE OF JOB Operates plant scales for the sale of aggregate materials. Performs a variety of clerical duties to support the scale house operation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1) Communicates with truck drivers to get pertinent information, inputs the information into the computer, directs trucks, and produces the ticket for invoicing. 2) Directs the flow of paperwork generated by material sales to appropriate departments; sorts receipts, organizes cash sales, prepares and distributes various reports. Such as production reports, sales reporting, and downtime reports, and safety reporting. 3) Performs routine clerical duties; answers telephone and refers calls when appropriate; maintains filing system. 4) Operates and maintains radio contact with truck drivers and loaders. 5) Quotes book prices for materials. 6) Communicates with the Aggregate Division Sales Department and the Corporate Credit Department regarding outside customers as required. 7) Knowledge of the different products that are being sold. 8) Payroll – Summarize and input payroll for hourly employees at the plant. 9) AP – Receives and opens mail daily and reviews any invoices. Scans and codes invoices for payment. Follows up on any questions from vendors about incorrect or unpaid invoices. 10) Purchasing – Helps superintendent, when time is available, to source and order parts, lubricants, and fuel. 11) Misc. – Performs other duties as needed. EQUIPMENT USED IN PERFORMANCE OF THE JOB Computers, Two-way Radio, Ten-key calculator DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Typing 35 wpm Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Prior scale operations desired Knowledge of aggregate materials and products is a plus Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written WORK ENVIRONMENT Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Plant locations may contain dust, fumes, debris, medium to loud levels of noise and extreme weather conditions including excessive heat or cold and rain prevalent at times. PHYSICAL DEMANDS – Employees occasionally may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: Viewing of computer monitor. Keyboarding; use of fingers to make small movements such as typing and mouse usage. Sitting or standing for various lengths of time. May require lifting of materials and equipment up to 20 lbs. Required to perform duties such as changing printer ribbons or monitoring scale operations in inclement weather.
